Box Score
McPherson, Kan. – Following their 3-0 loss to KCAC No. 2 Bethany College, the Lady Bulldogs head into the conference tournament with the No. 5 seed which puts them against Southwester College. Mac finished the regular season with a 5-11-1 overall record and 4-5 conference mark.
The game may not have meant anything in terms of KCAC seeding but bragging rights for McPherson County were on the line and the Lady Bulldogs came out aggressive, earning a corner kick just a few minutes in. A goalie save on a Gabriela Navarro (Wichita, Kan.) shot attempt ended the team's chance and so it would go for McPherson as they had their final two shots in the opening period go off target. Mac's goalie made four saves in the first half, putting the two clubs at 0-0 heading into halftime.
In the final 45, McPherson's defense broke down and allowed for the first goal and ultimately game winner in the 53rd minute. MC continued to push forward allowing a second score by the Swedes less than 10 minutes later. Bethany would score once more, coming in the 73rd minute, solidifying their win.
Navarro took a team-high three shots putting one between the pipes. Cydney Lewis (Ottawa, Kan.) recorded two attempts while Alia Khalidi (Rose Hill, Kan.) was the only other 'Dog to place a ball on target.
Freshman Caitlyn Blagrave (Rio Rancho, N.M.) played solidly for McPherson in goal, recording nine saves in the 3-0 defeat.
MC will travel to and play Southwestern College in the opening round of the 2013 KCAC Postseason Tournament. An interesting tidbit is that last season, the Moundbuilders were defeated by the Lady Bulldogs on Senior Night in McPherson but came back and defeated Mac a week later in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game of the first round of the conference tourney. This season, SWC took out the 'Dogs on their Senior Night in Winfield and McPherson will look to end the Builders' season this weekend in Winfield. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (CT) on Friday, November 8
