McPherson, Kan. – The Bulldogs could not keep up with the offensive firepower of the Friends University Falcons as they dropped to .500 after a 94-76 defeat.  Mac is on a three-game skid, losing by a margin of 12 points per game.
 
The 'Dogs scored first but then allowed a basket to Friends and trailed the rest of the way.  By the 10-minute mark, MC was down by double-digits and couldn't pull back to single figures for the remainder of the period, going into the break down 51-34.
 
McPherson made 45.2 percent of their attempts from the field but drained just 1-of-10 from three-point land; they scored on five of their seven free throws.  The Falcons counted 19-of-32 (59.4%) field goals with eight three balls dropping; 5-of-6 foul shots went through.  Friends' leading scorer for the year, Joe Mitchell who is ranked 1st in the NAIA D-II in scoring, tallied 19 in the first half.
 
In the second period, Mac got their deficit to just six in a little over five minutes; they took advantage of several three-point plays, putting the Falcons in foul trouble.  The score stayed tight for the next several minutes but a 24-9 run by Friends gave them their largest lead of the night at 22 points with under three to play.  After the clock struck zeros, the home crowd watched their team walk off the court after a 94-76 loss.
 
40% of the 40 attempts by the 'Dogs found their way in for the final 20 minutes; 3-of-11 from range and 7-of-11 free throws were bucketed by Mac.  The Falcons connected on 16-of-30 and tabbed seven three-point baskets; only 4-of-10 foul shots fell through.  Mitchell ended the game with 29 points.
 
MC made 30-of-71 but just 4-of-21 from downtown for the night; they knocked in 12-of-18 from the charity stripe.  45 rebounds, 18 off the offensive glass, were tabulated by the Bulldogs.  15 assists and 15 turnovers were logged by Mac as were four blocks and just three steals.  60 points in the paint, 27 second chance buckets and 15 points off turnovers were totaled by McPherson.
 
Joey Powers (Welch, Okla.) scored a team-high 19 points on 50% shooting (8-of-16); he also cashed in 3-of-3 free throws and grabbed nine rebounds while recording three blocks.  Devirous Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Brian (BJ) Johnson (Kansas City, Kan.) each put up 16 points and both made it to double figures in rebounds; D. Johnson was 7-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the foul line with 16 rebounds while B. Johnson had 10 boards and dropped in 7-of-12 with a pair of makes from the stripe.  Samson Shivers (Houston, Texas) bucketed 11 points in the loss.
 
It's now two weeks for Winter Break and then back to practice for the Bulldog men; they don't play another competition until January 3rd when they host their January Classic.
