Salina, Kan. – It was another tough day for Lady Bulldog softball as they were taken out twice by Kansas Wesleyan University.  The first doubleheader game went to the Lady ‘Yotes 8-0 while the second ended at 10-1; both contests were called via the run-rule.

Game 1 – at Kansas Wesleyan University – L 8-0

The first competition stayed at zeros for the first three and a half innings but in the bottom of the fourth, KWU jumped out to a 2-0 advantage.  Following a scoreless fifth, the Coyotes put up six more in the sixth to force the run-rule to come into effect as they came out on top 8-0.

The Lady ‘Dogs were only able to total two hits in the opening loss.  Ariel McGee (Denver, Colo.) and Amanda (Grace) Baxter (Pueblo, Colo.) each tallied one for MC; McGee’s knock of the ball was good for a double.

Kansas Wesleyan had a sum of 11 hits with four different Coyotes putting the ball into play twice; three others logged one.  Angelica Cesena, Noelle Skanderson and Chelsea Reid each totaled two RBI.

Allison Love (Tulsa, Okla.) was the first pitcher to take the mound for McPherson and pitched for five innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs.  She was relieved by Kaila Atkinson (Magnolia, Texas) who gave up four earned runs off of four hits while tallying just one out before being replaced by Suzi Hamilton (Raytown, Mo.) who allowed the game-ending run.

Game 2 – at Kansas Wesleyan University – L 10-1

McGee sent a bomb over the fence to start things off in the second game of the day, giving McPherson a positive outlook early on.  That slight glimmer of hope was vanquished after six runs were put on the board by KWU in the bottom half of the inning.  The ‘Yotes put three more up in the second and then another in the third before the game was called after five.

Hamilton joined McGee as the only two MC players to garner a hit in the second defeat of the day; McGee also got aboard via a walk.

KWU saw their ten runs go across home plate with nine hits and three walks.  Skanderson was the sole Coyote to have a multi-hit contest.

Mac went through three pitchers with Kaci Nichols (Wilson, Kan.) picking up the loss.  Al. Love and Jenna Kaiser (Billings, Mont.) were also used in the competition.

This week is a busy one for the Lady Bulldogs as there are five games scheduled in six days.  Weather permitting, McPherson is set to play the first of five doubleheaders on Monday when the Ottawa Braves come to town; start time is 4:00 p.m. (CT)
