McPherson, Kan.
– It took more than four quarters for the Bulldogs and the Warriors to complete their first football game of the 2013 season.  In the end, Bacone took McPherson 37-31 after MC failed to convert on their first overtime possession.

McPherson looked strong out of the gate as they scored within the first two minutes, despite getting the ball second; Gerald Hardridge (Tulsa, Okla.) pushed through for four yard plunge.  10 minutes later, Jordan Hoffman (McCordsville, Ind.) found Paul Rotering (Colorado Springs, Colo.) wide open across the middle for a 39 yard touchdown.

BC put one in at the tail end of the first and then a couple minutes into the second popped a field goal in, grazing the cross bar on its way.

Things heated up in the waning moments of the half when David Anderson (Aurora, Colo.) recovered a botched punt snap in the end zone to put Mac ahead 21-9 heading into the locker room.

Quarter number three went Bacone's way, starting with an interception on the first play of the second half.  They scored 22 points to go ahead 31-21 going into the fourth.

A 36-yard strike from Hoffman to Jon White (Aurora, Colo.) pulled the Bulldogs closer, then a 31-yard field goal from Michael Phillips (Spring Branch, Texas) tied things with 7:45 left in regulation.

Back-and-forth play ensued to close out the quarter.  MC narrowly escaped a couple scares after a poor snap on one field goal and not enough distance on another kept the score even at 31.

McPherson won the coin flip for the second time in the game and elected to play defense.  One play later, Bacone saw themselves one defensive stop away from stealing one from MC as a stop-and-go route put them up 37-31.

Two rushes and an incomplete pass put the 'Dogs at 4th and 10 from the 25-yard line.  Looking for Tremon Robinson (Dallas, Texas)  Hoffman threw his third pick of the game, sealing the deal for the Warriors.

Mac won the battle on the ground, posting 139 yards led by Havelock Pomele (San Jose, Calif.) who totaled 90 on 12 carries.  They struggled through the air as Hoffman ended the contest with 197 yards, including three picks and two touchdowns.  Both Robinson and White logged five receptions.

Bacone made their way down the field mainly through the air, totaling 356 yards passing; Kyle Kuban recorded the majority off those yards with 306.  The Warriors had just 71 yards on the ground due to a couple of botched snaps.

The Bulldogs tallied three sacks on the day and didn't give up a single one.  Micah Roehl (Dighton, Kan.) led the team in tackles with 10, four solo.  Anderson was second on the list with eight and also tallied one interception and three pass breakups to go along with his fumble recovery.
