Box Score McPherson, Kan. – It was a McPherson College controlled match on Saturday as the Bulldogs handled Briar Cliff University, taking the 3-0 victory. Mac is now 1-2 for the year while the Chargers are 1-3.
"It was a solid performance by us today," said head coach Doug Quint. "We had good movement and really were able to take advantage of them wide."
The 'Dogs, playing on their grass field, were able to ping the ball around to one another early on and took a quick 1-0 lead after forward
Johnny Nuthall (Reno, Nev.) put away a
Josh Aubuchon (Rose Hill, Kan.) ball.
It took nearly 70 minutes before McPherson scored again, doing so on a penalty kick by senior
Vincent Donato (Canyon Country, Calif.) the Bulldogs were awarded the PK after Nuthall, having bypassed the keeper, was taken down by a Briar Cliff defender.
The final goal of the night was again taken care of by Nuthall, this time with his head as he blasted in a
Danny Calleja (Oceanside, Calif.) corner kick.
Mac put 11 balls on target and took 30 total; Briar Cliff only troubled MC goalie Taylor Parrott once and took five altogether.
It's a quick turnaround for the Bulldogs as they play host tomorrow, September 8
th to Morningside College who just took care of Sterling College 2-1 on Saturday. Start time for tomorrow's match is 3:30 p.m. on the grass field at McPherson College.
