Late Push Not Enough for Lady ‘Dogs

McPherson, Kan. – After leading 1-0 in the early stages, MC gave up two quick goals to go down 2-1 but had their chances late to equalize it in the final minutes of the match.  Unfortunately, McPherson could not convert and dropped a 2-1 contest to Friends University.

In one of the quickest goals in school history, the Lady Bulldogs scored just 23 seconds into the contest; Morgan Anderson slotted a ball into the back of the net from Kayla Faust right off the opening whistle.  Friends got on the board a few minutes later on a miscue from McPherson to tie things up.  The Falcons scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 13th minute.  The score sat at 2-1 at halftime in favor of Friends.  In the second half, Mac had multiple chances late but the Falcons defense kept coming up with saves, preserving Friends' victory.

MC shot the ball 12 times and put four on frame.  Anderson took a team leading three shots and was followed by Rebekah Gallegos-Romero and Allie Hicks who both had two; both of Hicks' went on frame.

McPherson College's week 7 Athlete of the Week Tori Verdieck recorded six saves in the 90-minute contest.

The Lady 'Dogs play the University of Saint Mary on Saturday the 18th on homecoming weekend; kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. (CT) at McPherson Stadium
