McPherson, Kan. – The Bulldog volleyball team had a hard time putting the ball on the ground on Friday as they fell 3-0 to Friends University. Mac slides to 9-16 on the year and 2-12 in the KCAC; they currently reside ninth in the conference polls with just four matches to be played.
In both sets one and two Friends overpowered McPherson as they took early leads and didn't lay off the throttle late winning 25-16 and 25-14. In the third set, the Lady Bulldogs got things going as they were ahead 21-11 and looked to be forcing the match to another set; a 12-2 run by Friends tied it up at 23-23 and then the Falcons continued to push to win 27-25.
The Bulldogs amassed just 30 total kills for the match. Renee Fredrickson led Mac in kills with eight; she ended the night with the best MC hitting percentage at 21.1%. Taylor Johnson recorded 18 assists and 15 digs in the three-set contest. Emily Warner led the 'Dogs in digs with 25; Maci Grimes also hit double-digits in digs with 10.
McPherson is home for their next two matches as they host Bethany College on the 29th of October and then Bethel College on November 3rd; both competitions are set for 7:00 p.m. (CT) starts.
