Bulldogs, Coyotes End in 1-1 Draw

McPherson, Kan. – It was a 110-minute 1-1 tie between the top two teams of the KCAC as McPherson College and No. 13 Kansas Wesleyan University competed down to the end on Wednesday.  The Bulldogs are now 5-3-1 on the year and 1-0-1 in the conference.

KWU had the upper-hand in the opening minutes as they had multiple chances but failed to get one in the goal.  Mac came back and became the aggressors midway through the period but also had a hard time finding the back of the net.  The tie broke in the 43rd minute as Kansas Wesleyan was awarded a penalty kick and converted to take a 1-0 lead into the break.  In the second half, it was MC that earned a PK and they too converted to even it up a 1-1.  McPherson stayed on the attack for the remainder of regulation but was unable to break the tie, forcing extra time.  In the two overtime periods, both teams struggled to get anything going offensively and the game ended in a draw.

The Bulldogs took 15 shots and were led by Nick Torres who took four shots, placing two on target.  Oscar Cortez had three attempts with just one going on frame.  Brayam De La Cruz scored the penalty kick for Mac but didn't have another shot the rest of the game.

Aaron Parrot tallied just two saves in the 110-minute match.

MC next travels to Ottawa, Kansas where the Braves of Ottawa University wait; the October 11th match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. (CT)
