McPherson, Kan. – McPherson volleyball was overpowered by Ottawa University on Wednesday as the Lady Braves took down Mac 3-0 in Ottawa. MC slides to 10-18 on the year and are 3-14 against the KCAC.
The first set was completely controlled by OU as they got up quick and coasted to a 25-7 win. In the second, Ottawa got up big early as they led 10-1; the Bulldogs surged forward but dropped the set 25-18. The third set again went the way of the Braves as OU completed the sweep with a 25-12 victory.
Just 21 kills were recorded for the Lady 'Dogs in the three-set match. Taryn Lee led the team with five kills on 20 swings and also had two assisted blocks for six points. With 12 of the team's 20 assists was Taylor Johnson; the sophomore also had eight digs, three kills, and a solo block. Emily Warner recorded 15 digs and two kills from her libero position.
There is just one match left in the regular season for MC as they host the University of Saint Mary on November 8th at 7:00 p.m. (CT). Heading into tonight, the Bulldogs were tied for eighth in the KCAC with Southwestern College. As the top eight teams make it into the postseason tournament, Saturday's match with Saint Mary will be very important for McPherson to win.
