Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rough First Half Dooms Bulldogs

McPherson, Kan. – After scoring just 25 points in the first half, McPherson College found themselves in too big of a hole to climb out of as they lost 87-67 to Tabor College on Saturday night.  The 'Dogs are now 4-9 on the year and 1-3 in the KCAC.

The game started out going back-and-forth but the Bulldogs scored a mere 12 points for the final 13 minutes.  TC took a 19-point lead into the break.  Mac scored on just 28.6% of their field goals, 10-of-35, and went 0-of-7 from downtown.  Tabor, on the other hand, shot extremely well as they hit 18 of their 27 field goals including 3-of-6 from deep.

In the second half, a quick 13-2 run by the Bluejays gave them a 30-point lead.  McPherson got it right back into the 20s which is where it remained the rest of the way.  The Bulldogs ended the game on the very wrong end of an 87-67 score line.  MC improved their shooting as 17-of-34 field goals dropped through but were only 1-of-5 from downtown.  Tabor continued to make shots and went 16-of-33 and dropped in 6-of-15 threes.

The 'Dogs were 27-of-69 in the contest and scored on just 1-of-12 three balls; they ended the game making 12-of-19 free throws.  Mac totaled 39 rebounds and had 21 come on the offensive end of the court which led to 22 second chance points.  The team also tabbed 14 assists, 13 turnovers, and six steals.

Darius Hill tallied a game-high 30 points on his 11-of-19 shooting; he also made 8-of-10 free throws and tabulated 14 rebounds.  DeAndre Henson was the only other Bulldog to hit double-digits scoring and he did so with 11 points.  An injury note, TJ Grant played just 11 minutes of the game due to an upper body injury.

MC hits the floor again on Tuesday, the 16th for an exhibition game against NCAA D-II Emporia State University; game time is set for 5:30 p.m. (CT) in Emporia.
