McPherson, Kan. – The weekend started well enough for the Bulldogs as they took their first game of their home tournament but three-straight losses drops MC softball to 3-8 on the year.

Game 1 – vs. Nebraska Wesleyan – W 5-0

The Lady 'Dogs came out strong in their first contest, scoring two runs in the second and then three more in the third to go ahead 5-0.  McPherson's pitching and defense did the rest as they retired all but seven Prairie Wolves for the game, breezing to a 5-0 victory.

The McPherson High School alums, Mariah Wedel (McPherson, Kan.) and Emily Davis (McPherson, Kan.), combined for a 4-of-7 showing from the plate with two hits apiece; each player made it across home once and Davis logged a RBI.  Cassandra Mereno (Wichita, Kan.) led the 'Dogs in Runs Batted In with two on her lone at bat.  Four total MC players tabbed a hit in the team's victory.

Ciara Archer (Denver, Colo.) pitched the complete game for Mac, throwing 99 total pitches in seven innings of work; she gave up five hits, walked two and struck out a pair as well.

Game 2 – vs. Southwestern Christian – L 4-2

Zeroes were posted across the scoreboard for the first three innings of game two but it was a scoring explosion in the fourth as SCU put three across the plate and then Mac sent two around bringing the score to 3-2 after four innings.  The Eagles scored once more to take a 4-2 lead which they held on to, despite the Bulldogs' best efforts.

MC tallied seven hits in their loss with Wedel and McKenna Deckard (Hutchinson, Kan.) each tallying two; Wedel scored once and Deckard recorded a RBI.  Both Jenna Kaiser (Billings, Mont.) and Wedel logged a stolen base in the contest.

Archer started the game on the mound again but only went four and two thirds before being relieved by Kaiser; Archer threw to 22 batters, allowing four runs, three that were earned, off of nine hits.  Kaiser went for two and a third, tallying one hit allowed in her eight batters faced.

Game 3 – vs. AIB College of Business – L 9-4

McPherson started day two of their home tournament on a high note, scoring two in the opening inning of their first game.  Mac held a 3-2 lead heading into the sixth inning but surrendered four runs and were only able to get one back; in the seventh, AIB scored once more and then held the Lady Bulldogs to no runs in the final half-inning claiming the 9-4 victory.

Six different MC players logged a hit; four posted doubles.  Kaiser had a very productive game, going 3-of-4 from the plate; she scored once and also tallied a RBI.  Davis led the team in RBIs with her two; she had one hit and one base on balls for the 'Dogs.

Archer started for the third time in the tournament and went into the sixth inning before being replaced; the freshman threw 73 pitches and recorded six runs allowed on seven hits while striking out three.  Kaiser finished out the game, facing eight different players; she gave up three runs on three hits and tallied three strikeouts.

Game 4 – vs. Univ. of Science and Arts – L 11-1

The Drovers came out hard, scoring six runs in the opening inning.  Mac put their lone run on the board in the bottom of the first but could not get another across the rest of the way.  USAO forced the run-rule after five innings of play, winning 11-1.

Eight different Bulldogs had a hit in the final game of the tournament; Amanda Darrow (Jasper, Mo.) tallied the lone RBI as she knocked in Ariel McGee (Denver, Colo.).  Deckard made it safely aboard twice, once via a hit and the other on a walk.

Kaiser made it through the first inning at the mound for Mac, giving up all six runs.  Archer came in and finished out the contest, throwing for four innings.
