Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

McPherson, Kan. – It wasn't a day for the bats for McPherson softball as they were only able to accumulate two runs on 10 hits in their doubleheader with the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on Saturday; Mac's two defeats push them to 8-15 on the year and 3-5 against the KCAC.

Game 1 – vs. Kansas Wesleyan University – L 9-1 – Five Innings

It was a high-scoring first inning for the Lady Coyotes as they posted nine runs in the opening frame; after holding MC scoreless in their half of the inning, KWU put their final two on the board in the second.  McPherson held the 'Yotes to zeroes the rest of the way but were only able to muster one run themselves, losing 9-1 after five innings.

Mac reached first six total times, three via hits and three on walks; nobody made it on more than once.  Cassandra Moreno (Wichita, Kan.) logged the sole RBI as she hit in Amanda Darrow (Jasper, Mo.) in the fourth.

Pitching the complete game for the 'Dogs was Jenna Kaiser (Billings, Mont.) who threw 105 pitches to 31 KWU players; she surrendered five unearned and four earned runs off of 14 hits and no walks.

Game 2 – vs. Kansas Wesleyan University – L 5-1

Kansas Wesleyan came out hot in the second contest of the day, putting all of their runs on the board in the first four innings; they scored one in the first, two in the second and one in each of the third and fourth innings.  The lone MC player to cross the plate did so in the fourth.  Three blank innings is how the game came to a close, with Mac losing 5-1.

There were more hits to be gotten for the Lady Bulldogs in game two; they tabulated seven positive knocks of the ball and also had one walk.  Mariah Wedel (McPherson, Kan.) and Emily Davis (McPherson, Kan.) each tallied two singles for McPherson.  Once again, Moreno was responsible for the team's RBI, hitting in Darrow for the second-straight game.

Senior pitcher Kaila Atkinson (Magnolia, Texas) got the starting nod for the 'Dogs; she threw her first complete game of the year, allowing five runs on 13 hits and one walk.

It'll be a busy week for MC softball next week as they are scheduled to take on Bethel College, Central Christian College and Sterling College in a matter of five days.
