McPherson, Kan. – After allowing nine runs and scoring zero in the opening game of the Tuesday doubleheader, MC softball recovered and shut down Bethel 8-2 in the second to split the conference series.  The Dirt 'Dogs are now 9-16 on the year and 4-6 in the KCAC.

Game 1 – vs. Bethel College – L 9-0 – Six Innings

The game one stat-line speaks for itself: McPherson left nine runners stranded, recorded seven errors and tallied just two hits which allowed the Lady Threshers to claim the 9-0 victory.

Mac's lone hits came from Mariah Wedel (McPherson, Kan.) and Jenna Kaiser (Billings, Mont.)Kaiser; Wedel was also able to make it safely to first twice on walks.

Kaiser pitched the six innings for MC, recording the loss; she tallied nine runs allowed, three being earned, off of 13 hits while striking out four and walking two.

Game 2 – vs. Bethel College – W 8-2

It was a completely different Bulldog squad in the second game of the doubleheader as Mac came out firing in the opening inning which allowed them to tabulate a 3-2 advantage after the first.  There were three innings full of zeroes before McPherson exploded for five in the bottom of the fifth to put the game to bed.  The Dirt 'Dogs held Bethel scoreless the rest of the way, preserving their 8-2 triumph.

MC was outhit 7-to-10 but made the most of their time at the plate.  Ariel McGee (Denver, Colo.) broke out of her hitting slump with a 3-of-4 game including a two-run shot to left-center in the Bulldogs' monstrous fifth inning.  Both Wedel and Emily Davis (McPherson, Kan.) got on twice for Mac; Wedel tallied two knocks of the ball while Davis logged one hit and one base on balls.  Cassandra Moreno (Wichita, Kan.) tied McGee for most RBI with two.

Taking the mound in the second game for McPherson was Kaila Atkinson (Magnolia, Texas); she pitched the complete game, earning her second win of the year.  The senior surrendered 10 hits and two earned runs but was able to strikeout a pair of Threshers.

Mac has little recovery time before their next contest as they take on Central Christian College tomorrow, April 9th on the campus of the Lady Tigers on the south side of McPherson; start time for the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (CT)
