Box Score 2 McPherson, Kan. – The Dirt 'Dogs totaled 24 hits and four walks in their two-game series against cross-town rival Central Christian College; Mac won the first 4-3 and then run-ruled the second 11-3 after five innings. MC moves to 11-16 on the year while the Tigers sit at 10-26.
Game 1 – at Central Christian College – W 4-3
It took the Bulldogs an inning to gather themselves as they allowed all of CCC's runs in the bottom of the opening frame. Once composed, McPherson scored four runs over a three-inning span and held the Tigers scoreless the rest of the way to win 4-3.
Eight of the nine Lady 'Dogs that came to the plate got a hit with Mariah Wedel (McPherson, Kan.) and McKenna Deckard (Hutchinson, Kan.) recording two apiece. Four different players made it around the bases for MC.
Kaila Atkinson (Magnolia, Texas) continued her solid pitching, picking up a third-consecutive win and throwing another complete game; she gave up only one earned run on 11 hits and no walks while striking out two.
Game 2 – at Central Christian College – W 11-3 – 5 Innings
The second contest of the night was all McPherson from the get-go as they scored four in the first, three in the second and three in the third to go up 10-0 heading into the bottom half of the third inning. The Lady Tigers were able to bring two around two in their have of the third and one in the fourth to climb within seven but a one-run fifth for Mac gave the Bulldogs the 11-3 run-rule enforced victory after CCC failed to pick up any runs in their half.
Once again it was a team effort as every batter that came up made it to first at least once. Jenna Kaiser (Billings, Mont.), after going oh-fer in the first game, was 3-of-4 at the plate and scored twice; Emily Davis (McPherson, Kan.) also tabbed three hits in her four at bats. Cather Amanda Darrow (Jasper, Mo.) didn't record a hit but got aboard twice via walks.
Kaiser claimed the win for MC after throwing for two and two-thirds; the sophomore surrendered two runs on two hits and a pair of walks. Atkinson entered in the third and completed the game for the Lady Bulldogs, throwing to just nine batters in her time at the mound.
McPherson softball will travel to Sterling, Kansas for their next contest as they take on the Warriors of Sterling College on April 12th for a KCAC doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. (CT)
