Box Score Denver, Colo. – It was just too easy for the Lady Bulldog soccer team on Sunday as they took down Dakota Wesleyan University 5-1 in a neutral site game.
Mac bombarded Tigers from the get-go, taking multiple shots in the first 10 minutes until finally in the 14th, Heather Diamond was able to find the back of the net to give the Lady 'Dogs a 1-0 advantage. Less than two minutes later and McPherson was celebrating again, this time it was Cydney Lewis whose ball found its way through the pipes. Rebekah Gallegos-Romero was subbed in at the 23-minute mark and made her presence known very quickly as she scored the team's third goal off a Lewis pass.
MC headed into halftime up 3-0 and had outshot DWU 12-2 and earned four corner kicks. In the second, Dakota State put in a goal in the 46th minute to get closer but just over 10 minutes later Gabriela Navarro brought the Bulldog advantage back to three goals as she blasted one past the keeper. Off a pass from Kayla Burke, Lewis scored her second goal of the match with seven minutes to go in the match, giving Mac their 5-1 victory.
The 'Dogs took 17 shots in the win and put nine on frame; Navarro and Haley Anderson each took a team-high three shots and put one on goal with Navarro's going in for the team's fourth goal. Lewis ended the match with six points and was a perfect 2-of-2 with her shots to shots on goal ratio.
Caitlyn Blagrave tallied three saves and one goal allowed while picking up the win for McPherson.
It's a quick turnaround for the Lady Bulldogs as they face Johnson & Wales University of Colorado Monday at 1:00 p.m. (CT)
