Box Score McPherson, Kan. – Monday's match was one of those that the MC men's soccer team needs to forget as they were pummeled by the University of Texas-Brownsville Ocelots 7-0.
"We were extremely poor today against a very good team," said Coach Quint. "That made it for a long 90 minutes."
UTB came out firing against the Bulldogs taking three shots within the first three minutes and they took four more before the 10-minute mark. The wall finally broke for Mac in the 13th minute and Texas-Brownsville scored three more times before the halftime whistle. The Ocelots took 18 shots in the opening period. The Bulldogs had their chances too, shooting five at the opposing goal keeper.
In the second, Mac had some early opportunities but could not convert. 15 minutes into the half and Texas-Brownsville had scored again to go up 5-0. The Ocelots scored twice in the final 10 minutes to wrap up their 7-0 rout.
McPherson shot the ball 13 times in the match and put five on target; Alex Ronneburg led the team with his five shots while Kevin Ndongo placed a team-high two on frame.
Aaron Parrott allowed seven goals while making 12 saves.
The next outing for MC is September 6th as they face reigning GPAC champion Midland University at 3:00 p.m. (CT) at the Kennel in McPherson.
