Salina, Kan. – McPherson volleyball competed in two matches on Saturday as they took on Kansas Wesleyan University and Bellevue University in the triangular.  The Lady 'Dogs won set one versus KWU but lost the match 3-1.  Shortly thereafter, Mac played the Bruins and lost 3-0 moving them to 6-7, 1-3 for the year.

Against the Coyotes, MC pushed hard in the beginning which caught KWU off balance and allowed Mac to accrue a lead that was never relinquished as they won 25-18.  In the second set, it was the Lady 'Yotes that did off balance catching as they came out hot and won the set with ease, 25-11.  Set three was also Kansas Wesleyan led and they took a 2-1 advantage after winning 25-14.  The last set was much more even in the beginning but KWU used their home crowd adrenaline to win the final 10 points, giving them a 25-14 victory.

Both Lindsay Moss and Cortlyne Huppe racked up 12 kills, most of which came in the opening set; Huppe also had three blocks to lead the team.  Phoebe Barton tallied 21 assists and Emily Warner logged 29 digs.

In their second match of the day, the Bulldogs trailed for most of the opening set and despite a late surge, lost 25-20.  In set number two, Mac got down 10-3 to a very determined Bruins squad and eventually lost 25-16.  McPherson was the determined squad in the third set as they scored the first six points but unfortunately they gave up the next seven; the two clubs went back-and-forth for the next several points until a 9-2 run by BU allowed them to coast to a 25-19 win.

Taryn Lee posted a team leading 10 kills for the Bulldogs and also recorded a team-high two blocks.  Taylor Johnson led the team in both digs and assists with 10 and 14, respectively.

Mac has a pair of home conference matches next week as they host Friends University (12-9, 4-0) on Wednesday the 24th and Ottawa University (7-6, 4-1) on the 26th; both matches are set to start at 7:00 p.m. (CT) with the junior varsity squad playing against the Falcons at 5:30 on Wednesday.
