Box Score Lindsborg, Kan. – It was a much needed victory for Lady Bulldog volleyball as they took down inter-county rival Bethany College 3-1 on Saturday. Mac moves to 7-9 overall and are 2-5 in the KCAC.
The two clubs traded points back-and-forth all throughout the opening set with neither getting ahead by more than a couple; BC won the final three points to take a 25-22 win. In the second set, Bethany got up early and a 7-1 run by the Bulldogs to close the gap was answered by a 9-1 run of the Lady Swedes; MC scored four of the final five points to win 25-23. Set number three went much like the first with a title battle throughout; McPherson claimed the set to go up 2-1. In the final set, after tying it up at 9-9, McPherson scored 10 of the next 11 to take a commanding lead; Bethany tried to climb back but could not and fell 25-20 giving Mac the 3-1 match victory.
Taryn Lee and Cortlyne Huppe again performed fantastically for MC as the duo combined for 31 of the team's 58 kills; Lee had a career-high 16 and ended the night with a 40% kill percentage. Taylor Johnson totaled an incredible 41 assists, dug up 17 balls and also tallied five kills. Lindsay Moss also hit double-digits in digs with 10 but the 'Dogs were led by Emily Warner with her 27.
The MC volleyball squad is back in action on October 1st as they travel to Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas for a 7:00 p.m. (CT) match.
