McPherson, Kan. – It was a tough one to swallow for the Lady Bulldogs as they dropped their first conference match 3-0 to Sterling College on Wednesday night; MC is now 4-2 on the year and currently in a two-game slump.

The Lady Warriors started out strong in the opening set getting up 20-12 but a 6-2 run by the 'Dogs got things close; unfortunately for Mac, Sterling scored three of the next four points to take set one 25-19.  In the second, McPherson held a slim advantage for the opening points but a five-point rally by the Warriors put them up for good and they held off a late MC surge to take set two 25-20.  In the final set, Sterling rode a 12-0 run in the middle of the set and coasted to a 25-12 victory.

Taryn Lee led all players with 11 kills; she took a team-high 24 attempts.  Taylor Johnson recorded 15 assists and libero Emily Warner logged 17 digs; Phoebe Barton was second on both those lists with nine assists and 12 digs.

The Bulldogs are next in action this Saturday when they travel to Hastings, Nebraska for the Hastings College Quality Inn Classic; the team will play Hastings College and Benedictine College in the tournament.
