Hastings, Neb. – It was a tough trip to Nebraska for the Lady Bulldogs as they dropped two matches in the Hastings College Quality Inn Classic.  Their opening match ended in a 3-1 defeat to Hastings and the second was a 3-0 shutout to Benedictine College.  The Lady 'Dogs are now on a four-game skid.

Against the RV Broncos, McPherson came out slow and HC took full advantage, winning the first and second sets with relative ease, 25-13, 25-11.  The third was won by the Lady Bulldogs as they did a nice job of stopping the shutout.  In the fourth set, Hastings went back to their winning ways, taking it 25-13.

Cortlyne Huppe recorded nine kills and was followed by Micah Murray who had eight on a team leading 25 swings; Huppe was in on five blocks, logging one solo and four assisted blocks.  Taylor Johnson recorded a team-high 17 assists and sophomore Emily Warner tabulated 19 digs.

 

In the match against Benedictine, the Ravens won the opening set 25-15.  The 'Dogs pushed back in the second but fell 25-23 and then went down again in the third 25-18. 

Huppe tabbed a game-high 10 kills on just 19 attempts; three other Bulldogs recorded four kills.  Sophomore Jill Johnson blocked four total balls in the match, earning one solo and three assisted blocks.  T. Johnson once again led in assists with 17.  Warner had a team-high 10 digs; Phoebe Barton followed with eight.

The Lady 'Dogs kick off rivalry week for MC as they host Central Christian College, from the south side of McPherson, on Monday with the match commencing at 7:00 p.m. (CT)
