Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady ‘Dogs Roll by Bethel 3-0

McPherson, Kan. – The MC women's soccer team used a stellar first half where they took 15 shots and put eight on frame including two that went in for goals, to defeat the Bethel Threshers 3-0 on Saturday.  The Bulldogs are now 8-4 this season, 4-1 in the KCAC and have won four in a row.

"Our ladies continue to take giant steps forward," said Coach Quint.  "What a great week for us! Today we were really good in possession and created a lot of chances. We just keep working to get better and that certainly makes it for an enjoyable time!"

Amy Stockton put the 'Dogs on the board less than two minutes into the game, scoring on a Cydney Lewis assist in the game's first shot.  Just a few minutes later and Stockton assisted on Lewis' goal to put the score at 2-0.  Mac continued to pelt the Bethel goal but were held scoreless for the next 40 minutes.

In the second half, McPherson got on the scoreboard again as Bethel scored an own goal after a Bulldog corner, moving the MC lead to three in the early goings of the final period.  Mac took eight more shots the rest of the way compared to five of BC; in the final 20 minutes, the Threshers were only able to muster one shot against the Bulldog D, leading to the 3-0 win for McPherson.  For the match, McPherson held nearly 80% of the possession, completing 344 passes to Bethel's 90.

The Lady 'Dogs took 25 shots in the match and put 11 on target.  Breelyn Petty attempted seven tries at goal and found the goalie's gloves twice.  Lewis shot the ball six times, putting it on frame on three occurrences including the goal.  Stockton was third on the team with three shots.

MC goalie, Sheryl Evans, recorded four saves in her 90 minutes between the pipes, picking up the shutout win.

McPherson heads to Bartlesville, Oklahoma next Wednesday, October 21 for a 5:00 p.m. (CT) match with the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles.
