Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Complete Comeback at Southwestern

Winfield, Kan. – After getting down early in the first half, the MC women's soccer team came out in the second with authority and took down the Southwestern College Moundbuilders 2-1.  McPherson is now 5-4 in the KCAC and 9-7 overall.

"We had a great second half," said Coach Quint.  "We came out and played a lot better today."

It was a fast action first few minutes on Saturday as both teams took multiple shots in the early stages of the game.  Southwestern was able to head in a corner in the 22nd minute to break the tie.  The first 45 ended with the Builders still holding the 1-0 lead.

Right off the bat in the start of the second half, Mac's Breelyn Petty found Cydney Lewis for the equalizer in the 45th minute, just seconds after halftime.  Each team continued to attack and in the 77th minute Petty bended a ball around a SWC wall off a free kick to put the 'Dogs on top.  MC goalie Sheryl Evans made three saves in the closing minutes to preserve the victory for McPherson, 2-1.

The Bulldog shooting was on-point in Saturday's match as they placed nine of their 13 shots on goal.  Kayla Faust attempted three shots with each going on frame.  Petty and Lewis both took three shots, saw two on target and scored one goal.

En route to her save, Evans tallied eight saves in the 90 minutes in goal.

Next on the docket for Mac is the final game of the regular season.  The Lady 'Dogs will host the University of Saint Mary on November 3rd at 4:30 p.m. (CT)
