Wichita, Kan. – The 2015 KCAC Men's Soccer Postseason semifinals begin this week at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, Kan. The No. 3 seed McPherson College Bulldogs are set to play the No. 2 seed Friends University Falcons starting at 2 p.m. (CT)
McPherson earned the No. 3 seed in this year's playoffs and defeated Bethany this past Saturday in their quarterfinal matchup by a score of 2-0. Nick Torres (Jr., F) and Omar Perez (Jr., M) each found the back of the net for the Bulldogs, while Aaron Parrott (Jr., GK) recorded his seventh shutout of the 2015 season.
Earning the No. 2 seed and a bye in the quarterfinals, Friends enters Thursday with a 10-7-1 record and a 7-3 conference record. The Falcons enter the conference playoffs winning six of their last seven matchups. During those six wins, Friends has outscored their opponents 23-3. Leading the Falcons defensively is Mauricio Vargas, a senior goalkeeper who has allowed just 14 goals through 15 games for a 1.09 goals against per game average, good for second best in the conference.
Just one goal was scored in the only McPherson - Friends matchup this year, as Andreas Tschongarow (Sr., F) found the back of the net in overtime to earn the victory. Mauricio Vargas recorded six saves to keep a clean sheet in the win.
The winner of the semifinal games will matchup at Hummer Sports Park on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.
