KCAC Bracket
McPherson, Kan. – The start of the 2014-15 KCAC Postseason Tournament is slated for February 25th. The No. 8 Bulldogs are set to take on No. 1 Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. (CT) For those of you that don't remember, back in 2013 MC was the eighth seed in the tournament and made a run into the NAIA postseason.
Coach Swartzendruber always says that he wants his teams to be playing the best basketball at the end of the year. If this past weekend is any indication, the 'Dogs are doing just that; Mac took down KCAC No. 2 University of Saint Mary 77-74 in McPherson. MC held the Nation's leading scorer to just 14 points on 6-of-19 shooting. Offensively, the team saw nine of their 10 suited-up players score and three made it into double figures. The team is in good shape heading into the postseason.
MC in the NAIA – Darius Hill is seventh in the NAIA D-II in total rebounds with 273 and ranks 10th in rebounds a game at 9.4. Grant dropped to eighth in assist/turnover ratio and sits 12th in total assists with 151.

Mac averages 72.5 points a game on 41.4 percent shooting from the field; they drop in 34.8 percent from distance and 70.4 from the foul stripe which is third best in the league. Defensively, they allow 75.4 points while their opponents are shooting in 47.1% from the field and 35.5% from range. The 'Dogs grab 35.6 boards a game and have a negative 1.1 rebounding margin. The team tallies 13.6 assists, 5.4 steals, and 2.4 blocks a night. They sit second in assist/turnover ratio at 1.28 and are third in turnover margin at 1.6.
Hill is making 17.8 points a game while shooting in 50.6% from the field; he leads the team in rebounding average at 9.7 and has played in a team-high 551 KCAC minutes. Grant scores 14.4 points a contest and has made 34 threes and 73 free throws to lead the squad; the senior has dished out 95 assists and has 151 on the year, just seven off the school record. DeAndre Henson is the final double-digit scorer for Mac as he is tabbing 11.4 points on average; he too has dropped 34 three-point buckets. Nearing the double figure mark is Chris Crook who tabs 8.8 a contest.
MC in the KCAC – Following the regular season, Hill finished seventh in points per game and first in rebounding average; he was fourth in field goal percentage and logged a KCAC leading 14 double-doubles. Grant ended the 18-game KCAC season in third in three-point percentage at 39.1 and was second in free throw percentage at 86.9; he led the conference in assists per game, 5.28, and had the top assist/turnover ratio at 3.52.
With a win on Wednesday, the Bulldogs will continue their season. Mac would face the winner of the No. 5 Southwestern College at No. 4 Friends University game on Saturday, February 28th.
Scouting Tabor
The KCAC Regular Season Champion Bluejays are 18-11 for the season and finished the conference at 15-3; with their regular season championship, the team is already an automatic qualifier for the National tournament. TC has won six straight and went 8-1 in the second round of conference play; their lone loss was at the University of Saint Mary and their leading scorer did not play.
TC in the NAIA – As a team, Tabor is 21st in the NAIA D-II in field goal percentage at 47.6%. Malik Brooks is 14th in three-point field goals made on the year with 87. Andrew Thomas is 18th in total field goal percentage at 57.4%.

The 'Jays are scoring 82.7 points a game which is good for second in the conference; they bucket 48.4% of their field goals, tops of the KCAC, and 35.5% from distance which is the second highest. The team allows 74.7 points each time out with their opponents shooting in 43.4% from the floor including just 29.8% from range. Tabor records 38.2 rebounds a night along with 14.2 assists, 6.5 steals, and 2.3 blocks.
Thomas is scoring 15.3 games through his 17 league outings; he leads the team in field goals and free throws with 89 and 82, respectively. The senior also tops the Bluejays in rebounds with 145 on the year. Brooks is second in scoring at 13.4ppg; he has dropped in 52 three balls and makes 36.1% from behind the arc. Lance Carter averages 13.2 points each time out and is pulling down 7.8 boards a game. Dewayne Biggs is next on the list at 11.6 with most of his point total coming from the bench.
TC in the KCAC – Despite being the top team in the league, Tabor's top point-getter Thomas is only 11th in the league; he does sit first in field goal percentage at 57.8%, fourth in rebounds a night, and third in double-doubles with 11. Brooks ended the season third in three-point buckets a night at 2.89. Lance Carter, who has only plated in 11 conference games, recorded a fifth best 72 assists.
Tabor is in the same boat as Mac; a win for the Bluejays allows them to host either Friends or Southwestern on February 28th.
