McPherson, Kan. – The annual Think Pink Night will bring together McPherson College and Sterling College on Saturday, February 7. The women's junior varsity will tipoff at 1:00 p.m. (CT) with the varsity getting underway at 5:00.
The Lady 'Dogs are heading into the contest on a two-game losing streak. The team sits at 4-21 on the year and is 3-10 in the KCAC. They sit tied for eighth in the league with five games to play in the 2014-15 regular season; the top eight seeds make the postseason tournament.

Against conference opponents this season, MC is scoring just 56.9 points which puts them ninth in the 10-team league. They are allowing 66 points per game and have a defensive field goal percentage of 39.2%. The team shoots in 35.5% of their field goals with just 25.8 percent dropping from distance; they are fifth in the KCAC in free throw percentage at 67%. The team is pulling down 35.9 rebounds a night to go along with their 21.4 turnovers, 11.6 assists, 5.8 steals, and a conference-high 4.3 blocks per game.
Bailey Brown is McPherson's leading scorer this season as she averages 17.0 points each time out; she has made a team-high 89 free throws and 61 field goals while gobbling up 6.1 boards a night. Sunny Smart is the other double-digit scorer for Mac at 11.2; she has drained 29 three balls and also grabs 5.9 rebounds a night. Georgia Smart has been coming on as of late for the Bulldogs; the Australian forward averages 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds through her 13 conference games.
MC in the KCAC: Brown is second in the league in scoring with 221 total points; she is also first in free throws made/attempted, 89 and 119, and is eighth in free throw percentage, 74.8%. S. Smart has made a conference leading 29 three balls. Freshman forward Alicia Demaret has recorded a KCAC-high 26 blocks. Whitney Jefferson is handing out three assists a night and has 39 through the conference season.
The Bulldogs will be on the road for the next couple games as they travel to Ottawa University on February 12th and then Southwestern College on the 14th.
Scouting Sterling
SC sits at 9-15 on the year and have won six of their 13 KCAC outings. The Lady Warriors will head into Saturday's contest riding a two-game winning streak with a big win coming against then-No. 14 Friends University last weekend, 73-70. This past Thursday, Sterling was triumphant over the University of Saint Mary 74-48.
The Warriors shot the ball very well from behind the arc as 11-of-24 tries fell through; they also ate up the rebounds with 47 total and 24 coming off the offensive glass. It helped SC's cause that the Spires went 18-of-46 from the floor and made just 3-of-14 threes and 9-of-18 free throws. Sterling also forced 20 turnovers on 13 steals.

SC is scoring just over 60 points a night while giving up a second-worst 68.2 points per game; they are allowing a conference worst 44.0 defensive field goal percentage. The squad is making 38.2 percent from the field and 26.8 from deep; they convert 69.3% of their foul shots. The Warriors are grabbing just 34.7 boards each time out, ninth in the league. They also tab 15.7 turnovers, 11.1 assists, 8.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks a game.
It has been a team effort all year long scoring the ball for Sterling as they have five players that net over seven points a game. Lori Dauer leads the way at 11.2; she has made a team-high 49 field goals and 48 free throws while bringing in 7.9 rebounds a contest. Hailey Davis is second on the team at her 10.1 average. The team's three-point shooter is Allie Faul who has made 22 through the KCAC season; she also has a team-high 25 assists and 18 steals. Both Kelsey Strobel and Megan Stagner are in the seven-point range for SC.
Sterling will be on the road for their next contest as they are slated to take on Bethel College on February 12th.
