City of McPherson Series Even at 2-2

McPherson, Kan. – In the series for McPherson, the Lady Bulldogs took the first two games back in February but Central Christian College evened things up at two apiece after their pair of victories on Wednesday night, 7-3 and 12-11.  The two teams are not scheduled to face each other the rest of the season.

Game 1 – 7-3 CCC

The Lady Tigers scored seven runs in the first three innings and led 7-0 heading into the bottom of the third; MC put two on the board in their half of the third to put the score at 7-2.  McPherson held CCC scoreless the rest of the way but were only able to score one themselves, losing 7-3.

Mac was outhit 16-to-8 in the loss.  Both Mariah Wedel and Simone Donaldson netted two hits and one run scored; four others tallied one hit with McKenna Deckard logging a solo homerun.

Kaylee Lozier recorded the loss for MC; she threw a complete game, allowing five earned runs and two unearned.

Game 2 – 12-11 CCC

It was an error-filled opening inning for both squads as eight total were logged; the Tigers led 7-5 after the first.  The scoring was kept to a minimum for the next four innings and CCC held a 9-6 advantage heading into the sixth.  The Lady Tigers put another on the board in the top of the inning but Mac was able to grab two, pulling the score to 10-8 with one inning to play.  Central Christian scored another two in the seventh, putting pressure on MC to score at least four in the final frame.  The Bulldogs scored three runs and had the tying run at third base but were unable to convert, dropping the final game of the night 12-11.

McPherson again logged eight hits but also drew seven walks.  Deckard and Donaldson led the team in on-base percentage; Deckard tallied two hits and one walk while Donaldson had a pair of walks and one hit.  Whitney Miller and Savannah Lewis each recorded two hits including a double.

After getting out of the opening frame, Mallory Fowler had a solid night pitching; she ended the game allowing 12 runs on 15 hits and six walks.

The Lady 'Dogs are hosting their annual tournament this weekend, March 13th and 14th, at Wall Park.  Their first game is set for 4:00 p.m. (CT) on Friday against Benedictine College.
