Bulldogs Triumphant 6-1 over MNU

Olathe, Kan. – It was a team-win for the Bulldogs on Tuesday as they took down MidAmerica Nazarene University 6-1 on the road.  Mac was in need of a win and the whole team, dugout included, got the job done.

Game 1 – 6-1 McPherson

The scoring started early for the Bulldogs as they brought two around in the opening frame.  Mac put another on the board in the third and then again in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.  After surrendering a run in the eighth, the 'Dogs added some insurance in the top of the ninth as they brought home two.  Brandt Rhoades closed out the game for McPherson, giving the Bulldogs the 6-1 win.

MC only had 11 base runners in the game but ran the bases well as they logged seven stolen bags; John Feaster was responsible for four.  Seth Davenport led the team in on-base percentage as he got aboard three times in his four at bats; he had two hits and was also hit by a pitch.  Feaster also tabbed two hits and scored twice as well.

Freshman Trevor Haycock got the start on the mound for McPherson.  He performed brilliantly.  The south-paw threw for six innings, allowing no runs on three hits; he struck out four of the 21 batters faced.  Keegan Hays started the seventh and pitched through the eighth; he allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk.  MC's closer, Brant Rhoades, entered in the ninth and finished the game.

The Bulldogs are back to KCAC-play on March 19th as they travel to Ottawa University for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. (CT)
