Bulldogs Can’t Keep Pace with NCAA D-II FHSU

McPherson, Kan. – The hitting of NCAA D-II Fort Hays State University was too much for the pitching staff of McPherson College to handle on Tuesday as the 'Dogs lost an 11-1 battle at home.  MC is now 5-21 on the year.

Game 1 – 11-1 Fort Hays State

The bulk of the Tiger scoring only came in three innings as they netted three in the first, two in the third, and four in the fourth.  Other than that, McPherson did a nice job of containing the runs, not necessarily the hits as they allowed 16.  Trailing 10-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, MC scored their lone run to extend the game into the eighth.  FHSU put another on the board in what turned out to be the final inning and the Bulldogs could not answer, ending the game at 11-1.

Mac tallied seven hits in the game but was unable to get it going until late.  Seven different players logged the hits and Evan Willow led the team in on-base percentage with his two walks in four at-bats.

As this was a mid-week game, McPherson didn't use just one pitcher, they used nine.  Tyler Lambert got the start and the loss for the pitching staff.  Loren Farley led the group in strikeouts with two.

The 'Dogs are back in action at home on Friday, March 27 as they take on Bethany College.  The doubleheader is slated to start at 5:00 p.m. (CT) at Light Capital Diamonds.
