Game Recap: Softball |

McPherson Falls Twice to Swedes

Lindsborg, Kan. – After coming close to an upset in game one of their series with Bethany College, a 6-3 defeat, the Lady Bulldogs were held scoreless in the second game, losing 8-0 in five innings.  McPherson is now 4-27 on the year and 1-9 against KCAC opponents.

Game 1 – 6-3 Bethany College

McPherson scored the first run of the game as Savannah Lewis brought in Emily Davis.  Bethany would tie things up in the bottom of the opening inning.  After three scoreless innings, Mac took the lead again as Davis brought home Mariah Wedel.  The Swedes jumped on top after scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning.  The 'Dogs would not go away as a Whitney Miller single in the sixth sent Nicole Cheek home.  Unfortunately, BC netted a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and held of the Bulldogs in the seventh to claim the 6-3 victory.

MC had nine hits and one walk in the game with Davis being responsible for two of those hits and the base on balls.  Miller also had a pair of hits in the loss.

Amanda Connell pitched the complete game for the Bulldogs, facing 31 batters; she gave up six earned runs on 13 hits and a walk.

Game 2 – 8-0 Bethany College

The second contest of the series was a brief one as the two teams started the game with a pair of quick innings where no runs were scored.  Bethany broke the silence with four runs in the third, two in the fourth and another two in the fifth to bring the run-rule into play, ending the game at 8-0 in favor of the home team.

Mac logged just three hits as Wedel, Davis, and Amanda Darrow each had a single.

Connell started the second game at the mound for the 'Dogs and pitched for three and two-thirds innings before being relieved by Kaylee Lozier who finished out the game.

McPherson's next outing will be on April 11th as they host Friends University at 1:00 p.m. (CT) at Wall Park in McPherson.
