Bulldogs vs Drovers Tabbed NAIANetwork Game of the Week

Kansas City, Kan. – Announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the 3:00 p.m. (CT) matchup on September 5th between No. 24 McPherson College and the No. 18 University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma will be the NAIANetwork Game of the Week, presented by Stretch Internet.

This Game of the Week highlights member schools that utilize live video-streaming with Stretch Internet.  The contest was selected by the NAIA Communications and Sports Information Department.

The Bulldogs follow a 2014 campaign where they won the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships.  McPherson represented the conference well in the NAIA National Tournament but were defeated by then-No. 6 Grand View University.

The team received eight All-KCAC honors including the Coach of the Year award going to Doug Quint.  Eight different MC athletes were recognized and Mac brings back three in Nick Torres, Morgan Quintana, and Kevin Ndongo.

The September 5th contest will be the second of the year for the Bulldogs as their opening match of 2015 is scheduled for September 3rd against Benedictine College; the bout against USAO is Mac's first home competition of the year.

The Drovers will enter the match with a 1-1 record as they started the year with a 3-2 loss to Our Lady of the Lake on August 27th and then rebounded with a 1-0 victory over Houston-Victoria two days later.

The team returns 10 from their 2014 squad that produced an 18-4 record and qualified for the NAIA postseason.  USAO defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan in the opening round 1-0 but then were defeated 1-0 themselves by the same Grand View squad that took down MC.

Among the returners are Niall Burley, Alex Hortal, Liam Madden, Kyle Maxwell, and Stephen Owusu.  Owusu was the 2014 Sooner Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the year and was also named an NAIA All-American.  Madden and Burley were also All-SAC players last season.

The contest will be live steamed here with live statistics here.
