LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College men's soccer team outshot the University of Saint Mary, 25-9, but could not find the back of the net as the teams played to a scoreless draw in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) play Wednesday night.
Eleven of the Bulldogs' 25 shots were on frame, but USM goalkeeper Enrique Gonzalez  was up to the challenge. He finished with 11 saves.
Arthur Lamparter (Schweinfurt, Germany) finished with six saves to lead McPherson.
Offensively,
Nick Torres (McPherson, Kan.) finished with a game-high seven shots for the Bulldogs, including four on goal.
David Mwinga (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and
Christopher Kelly (Glasgow, Scotland) added six shots apiece, with three of Mwinga's coming on goal.
Branden Sanchez led Saint Mary with five shots - four on goal. No other Spire had more than one shot.
Despite the draw, McPherson (10-4-2, 5-3-1 KCAC) clinched a spot in the upcoming KCAC Tournament. The Bulldogs finish the season at home with a pair of games. The first test comes Saturday with a Senior Day matchup against rival Bethany (7-5-2, 6-1-2 KCAC) that will go a long way toward solidifying KCAC Tournament seeding. McPherson closes its regular-season Tuesday against York.
