McPHERSON, Kan (macbulldogs.com) – Junior guard
Brooklyn Coe (Corvallis, Ore., Chemeketa CC) scored with 2.7 seconds remaining to push the McPherson College women's basketball team to a 57-55 win over Saint Gregory's University on Saturday evening at the Sport Center.
The Bulldogs (4-1), who trailed by three entering the fourth quarter and by nine with 5:48 to play, finished the game on a 13-2 run behind four points each from Coe and
Kristina Battle (Houston, Texas, Austin HS).
Coe scored eight points overall and four of McPherson's final five points, including the game-winner.
The Bulldogs were competitive throughout the game with a team-high 15 points off the bench from
Isabella Bacon (Sapulpa, Okla., Sapulpa HS), who was 4-of-5 from behind the 3-point arc, and 12 points from sophomore
Brooke Zimmerman (Aurora, Colo., Western Nebraska CC).
Cami Richardson (Hesston, Kan., Hesston HS) played a solid game on both ends of the court, totaling seven points, nine assists and a game-high 12 rebounds. Battle finished with nine points.
The Cavaliers (2-3) were led by Kylee Tatum's game-high 18 points and a 14-point, 11-board double-double from Kelsie Howgard.
The Bulldogs return to the court Thursday night at home against Bethany College to open the KCAC slate. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST.
