McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College baseball team used an eight-run second inning to push them past Central Christian College, 11-2 in Tuesday night's cross-town rivalry game. The teams will play each other two more times this season, March 15th and April 6th.
With 10 runs in the first three innings, the Bulldogs left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A wild pitch, an RBI single by Lucas Giesey, an error, a two-run single by Jackson Goodmiller, an RBI single by Matt Bryan, and a two-run error in the second inning fueled the early offense for McPherson.
Mac scored 11 runs on 10 hits and Giesey was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. Eight other Bulldogs tallied a hit with Goodmiller and Shon Pinard logging doubles.
Colter Streck recorded the win for the 'Dogs; he allowed one run over five innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered just five hits. MC used four different pitchers for the final four innings; they allowed one run on five hits.
The Bulldogs will be at home this weekend as they host Nebraska Wesleyan University; the teams will play a doubleheader at Grant Park on the north side of McPherson on Saturday at 1:00 and then a single-nine inning game at Light Capital Diamonds on Sunday also at 1:00.
