Lady ‘Dogs Lose DH to No. 25 Friends

McPherson, Kan. – In their final conference doubleheader of the season, the McPherson College softball team had a couple bad innings that led to a pair of losses to NAIA No. 25 and KCAC Regular Season Champion Friends University.

Game 1 – L 10-0 – 5 Innings

The Lady Falcons used a strong first two innings to jump out in front 8-0; Mac was only able to muster up a pair of hits in their two frames.

After a scoreless third, Friends tacked on another two in the fourth and as the Bulldogs were unable to push runners around in the fifth, the run-rule came into effect with FU winning 10-0.

MC recorded just the two hits they had in the first and second innings for the game.

Sydney Lang went the complete five innings on the mound for Mac; she gave up 10 earned runs on 10 hits and four walks.

Game 2 – L 10-1 – 5 Innings

Friends again stormed out to a strong start, scoring five in the opening frame.  MC plated their lone run in the first as Chelsea Conrad scored on an Amanda Darrow double.

Over the next three innings, neither team was able to score but the Bulldogs were making some solid contact.  Unfortunately, the Falcons scored another five runs in the fifth and held Mac scoreless to take the game 10-1.

McPherson logged six hits in game two from six different players.

Katie Usdansky started the game on the mound and threw for the five innings; seven of her runs were earned and the freshman surrendered 11 hits and five walks.

Mac is scheduled to end the season this Saturday at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas; the DH is slated for a 1:00 p.m. (CT) start.
