OTTAWA, Kan. --- The McPherson College volleyball team slipped to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) after a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) loss at league-leading Ottawa University on Saturday.

The Braves (11-5, 6-0 KCAC) limited the Bulldogs to just 22 kills and an .063 attack percentage in the match. Ottawa had three separate 5-0 runs en route to a 25-13 win in the first set, while the longest run McPherson could muster was just two points.

The Bulldogs opened the second set on a 4-0 run and led 11-6 before the Braves went on an 8-2 run to grab a 14-13 lead. The teams traded sideouts to push the score to 16-16 before Ottawa gained separation with a 7-1 run to take a 23-17 lead. Angela Roberts ended the set four points later with a kill off an assist from Adriana Skipper.

The teams matched 3-0 runs to start the third set and McPherson held close, trailing just 7-6 before Ottawa went on a 6-0 run to really put the set out of reach.

Lexi Kite (Thorton, Colo.) led the Bulldogs offensively with nine kills and had six digs and an ace, while
Jocelyn Cochran (Newton, Kan.) added five kills, four block assists and a team-best 13 digs.
Emily Warner (Wichita, Kan.)added 11 digs and
Kaitlyn Heinis (Oviedo, Fla.) had a team-leading 12 assists.

Avery Enzbrenner led all players with 12 kills, while Kenna Hall and Janaya Fox added eight each. Jordan Halsey had a team-high 19 digs for the Braves, while Adriana Skipper added 10 digs and had 33 of Ottawa's 38 assists.

"Ottawa defeated us in three sets, but we competed well," said head coach
Jessica Cleveland. "We were smart and aggressive and swung away, but Ottawa kept digging [everything] up."

The Bulldogs continue their four-match road swing Wednesday with a trip to Sterling College. First serve for the varsity match is 7 p.m.
