COLUMBIA, Mo. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College volleyball team opened its 2017 season with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 sweep of Stephens College Friday night at Silverthorne Arena.
Lexi Kite (Thornton, Colo., Prairie View HS) finished with a 10-kill, 16-dig double-double with three blocks and a pair of aces to lead the Bulldogs (1-0), who hit .198 in the match.
Leia Seiler (Fort Lupton, Colo., Fort Lupton HS) added 10 kills and a pair of digs, while
Devrie Sombers (Colorado Springs, Colo., Pinecreek HS) had eight kills and three digs.
Kaitlyn Heinis (Oviedo, Fla., Paul J. Hagerty HS) narrowly missed a double-double with 15 assists and nine digs and
Morgan Little (Las Vegas, Nev., Hutchinson CC) had 13 assists and five digs.
McPherson held Stephens (0-1) to 27 kills while forcing 23 attack errors. The Stars were led by Danielle Kirk with nine kills and eight digs. Darby Jones added seven kills and Shay Wilkerson had six kills and four digs, while Danielle Craven had 23 assists and Halan Mann had a team-best 13 digs.
The Bulldogs continue their weekend trip through central Missouri with a match against Central Methodist University at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fayette.
