Kakebeen Tallies Four in Win Over Randall

McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- Danielle Kakebeen (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., San Bernardino Valley College) scored a hat trick in the first 21 minutes and added another goal in the second half to lead the McPherson College women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Randall University Thursday evening at McPherson Stadium.

Kakebeen tallied her first just 2 minutes, 14 seconds into the contest, taking a long cross from Emma Van Donselaar (Overland Park, Kan., Shawnee Mission West HS) and beating Randall goalkeeper Madi Harris in the lower left corner of the goal.

Her second came off a rebound of a Dina Der Vartanian (Sierra Madre, Calif., Alverno HS) shot in the 11th minute and her third came as she beat Harris top shelf in the upper-right corner of the goal after receiving a pass from the edge by Alexis Lynn (Pleasant Hill, Mo., Pleasant Hill HS).

The Bulldogs had 21 shots, including 13 on goal, in the first half. The Saints were held without a shot.

McPherson controlled possession early in the second half, barely letting Randall across the midfield stripe.

Kakebeen added a fourth goal in the 49th minute off an assist from Juliana Munoz (Antelope, Calif., American River College). Munoz added a tally of her own in the 63rd minute, putting back the rebound of one of her own shots after Harris made a diving stop on the initial try.

The final goal came four minutes later on an own goal after a shot by Ana Guerrero (Graton, Calif., Santa Rosa JC) was kicked into the net by a Randall defender attempting to clear.

McPherson finished with 46 shots, including 22 on goal, against Randall, which played with just 10 players due to injury.

Kakebeen became just the fourth player in McPherson program history to score at least four goals in a game and the first since Haley Cook scored four in an 8-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Sept. 5, 2008. Bryanna Daniels holds the single-game school record for goals with five against Mid-America Christian University in 2006. Denise Rinke added four goals in the same game – an 11-1 McPherson victory.

"I was pleased with the way our players connected passes this evening and implemented what we have been training on these last few weeks," said head coach Mark Olson. "Danielle Kakebeen did a great job tonight in putting herself in position to receive and finish the ball on her four goals. It was also nice to see Juliana Munoz score her first collegiate goal tonight. The team continues to improve through each training session and game. It will be a good opportunity to see where we are at this weekend when we play Midland University."

The Bulldogs (3-1) return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon with a contest at No. 19 Midland (6-1). Kickoff from Heedum Field in Fremont, Nebraska, is slated for 5 p.m.
