McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men's and women's track and field teams will begin their push for another KCAC indoor title this weekend, as they kick off their season at the Crimson and Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State University, a venue familiar to the Bulldogs.
Both the KCAC indoor championships, and the NAIA indoor nationals were hosted on Pitt State's 300m oval last season, so it is a place the Bulldogs are comfortable running. The Bulldog women are returning 18 competitors from last year's squad that finished 4
th in the KCAC behind Friends, St. Mary, and Southwestern. They return All-American,
Amy Braimbridge (Jr. Connolly, Australia), who was the KCAC 400m champion last year, and runner-up in the 200m by just five hundredths.
The men have 24 guys returning from a team that finished 3
rd in the KCAC indoors last year behind St. Mary and Friends. They return two individual champions, NAIA All-American,
Hunter Sury (Sr. Katy, Texas), who finished atop the podium in the 200m, and
Amari Heisser (Jr. Palmdale, Calif.), who was the KCAC 60m hurdle champion a season ago.
"Training has been going well this fall, and we are ready to get after it," said Bulldog head coach
Robert Spies, who is in his 4
th season at the helm of the men's and women's track and field programs. The meet gets underway tomorrow at 11:30 am. Click
