Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Falter in 2nd Half Against Friends

Wichita, KS – It was another tough outing for the McPherson College women's soccer team. The Bulldogs went on the road on Wednesday night against Friends University, looking for their first win of the season.
The Falcons controlled the game in the opening half, peppering the Bulldog goal to the tune of 9 shots, while their defense held the Bulldogs to zero offensive opportunities. Still, despite the ball being in their end of the field for the majority of the half, the Bulldogs went into the halftime intermission tied with the Falcons 0-0.

It was more of the same in the second half with the Falcons outshooting the Bulldogs 22-2 in the half. The Falcons continued to apply pressure on the Bulldog defense until the 61st minute when they were able to break through and score the first goal of the game. The Bulldogs continued to fight, but in the 82nd minute, the Falcons found the back of the net again, and with less than 2 minutes to play in the game, added an insurance goal to make it 3 nil. Christie Silber (So. Simi Valley, Calif.), was in goal again for the Bulldogs. She played all 90 minutes, facing 16 shots on goal from the Falcons, and turning away 13 of them.

It has been a rough season for the Bulldogs in regards to injuries. The 3-0 loss to the Falcons on Wednesday was a tough pill to swallow, but it was made worse due to the fact that two more Bulldogs were bitten by the injury bug. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-8 on the year, and 0-3 in KCAC play. They will be back on the road on Saturday for another KCAC matchup, this time against the Ottawa University Braves. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 pm.
