Bulldogs Lose to No. 1 OKWU

By Drew Brunecz

The Bulldogs lost to the number one ranked team in the nation tonight, by a score of 103-83.

The first half was one full of runs by both teams. The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead, eventually leading by 11 points, 23-12, in the middle of the first half. The Bulldogs wouldn't stop fighting though, as they fought back, going on an 11-2 run trimming the Eagle lead to two points, 25-23. OKWU held them off for a minute, but the Bulldogs took the lead, 29-28, with 6:56 remaining in the first half. The Bulldogs would lead the Eagles by as many as 5 down the stretch in the first half. The Eagles went on another run at the end of the half, to close the gap but McPherson would maintain the lead, 46-45, heading into the break.

The Bulldogs fought hard for the first nine minutes of the second half. They led the Eagles 66-65 with only 11:19 left in the game, but unfortunately, they could not hold them off any longer. The home team went on a run, and in only two minutes, McPherson trailed OKWU by nine points. The Bulldogs fought hard until the end, but they just could not contain the Eagles as they lost by 20 points.

Four Bulldogs finished the game in double figures, led by Frederick Watts II, (So. Houston, Texas), who poured in 18 points, 12 of them coming from behind the three point arc. Lual Magot (Jr. Tucson, Ariz.) came off the bench to score 15, while Delvon Hightower (Jr. Bakersfield, Calif.) and Chamaje Barideaux (So. New Iberia, La), chipped in 14 and 10 respectively.

The Bulldogs hope to bounce back with a win on Saturday at home, as they play Avila University, at 5:00 PM.
