McPherson, Kan. - On Saturday, the McPherson College Women's soccer team played Bethany College. The Bulldogs fell to the Swedes 3-0.
The Swedes kept pushing offensively for most of the game and were able to capitalize on the Bulldogs' mistakes. The first goal was scored in the first eight minutes, and that created momentum for the Swedes the rest of the game.
The first half the Swedes had six shots while McPherson had three. In the 22nd minute,
Dina Der Vartanian (Sr. Pasadena Calif.) had a shot on goal that just barely went wide. Bethany's second goal was scored in the 61st minute. The Bulldogs tried to mount a comeback; however, they could not get the ball in the goal.
Emma Singleton (Sr. North Las Vegas, Nevada) had a quality shot on goal, but the Swedes goalie saved it.
McPherson head coach mark Olson said, "I thought Bethany was a well-disciplined team today, and they beat us in every aspect of the game. They deserved this win today."
Tuesday, the Bulldogs travel to Sterling to battle the Sterling College Warriors, on the road. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
