McPherson, Kan. - The McPherson College women's basketball team played the Bacone Warriors Friday night in McPherson and won 67-48. The Bulldogs improve to 2-1 this season.Â
The Bulldogs outclassed the Warriors for most of this game. They hit 14 shots in the first half and Bacone only hit four. Bacone almost had more turnovers (38) than points. This was a sloppy game for both sides, the Bulldogs also coughed the ball up 28 times.
The Bulldogs outscored the Warriors in every quarter, their defense was smothering. Brittany Roberts (Jr. Mansfield, TX) and Maison Moseley (So. Woodward, OK) had stellar games scoring 14 and 11 points respectively. Roberts also led the team in rebounds and tied for the lead in assists. Haley Hurst (So. Norman, OK) was another standout. She scored 8 points and collected 5 rebounds off the bench.Â
Coach Nichols said after the game, "Thought we played sloppy tonight. We had too many turnovers and gave too many offensive rebounds. Felt like we forced the action and didn't let the game come to us. Maison had a solid performance and Brittany had another double-double. Off the bench, Haley had one of her best games in a Bulldog uniform. Would like to see us do better on the boards and taking care of the ball tomorrow afternoon. I want to see us develop more of a tougher mindset on both ends of the floor."
The Bulldog women will play again, tomorrow, November 2nd at 2 p.m. as the McPherson Classic continues against Randall University.Â
