York, Neb. --The McPherson College Bulldogs had an offensive explosion for an 88-78 win over the York College Panthers Tuesday night.
Dorian Paige (Sr. Tucson, Ariz.), a steadying senior point guard presence, had one of his best offensive nights of the young season, en route to 19 points and 3 assists. He relentlessly attacked the basket and earned 10 free throw attempts of which he nailed 8. Fred Watts (Jr. Channelview, Texas) had another rugged game collecting 16 points and 9 boards, Josh Rivers (So. Midwest City, Okla.), had an efficient 15 points and four assists with no turnovers.
The Bulldogs didn't shoot spectacularly from the field (Only 43.5%) but their buckets came in abundance. Their largest lead of the game was 12 early in the first half. They were also aided by 32 bench points, which is becoming a common occurrence. Travon Shelvin (So. Pearland, Texas) was on fire from 3-pt range going 3 for 3.
Coach T.J. Eskilden was energized after the game, "That was a great effort out of our group heading into a short Thanksgiving break. I was proud of the mental toughness we showed when York made a run in the second half. Travon, Josh, and Gage [Maccoy] were huge for us tonight off the bench. That was a great team win."
The Bulldogs pick up play after the break against St. Mary's in Leavenworth, Kansas on December 2. Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. following the women's game.
