The McPherson College softball team opens up their season today, on the road in Fort Worth, Texas. They Bulldogs are scheduled to play 5 games this weekend as part of the "Cowtown Classic".

The Bulldogs are playing their first games under first year head coach Tony Segovia, who came back home to coach the Bulldogs after spending 14 seasons as the head coach of the Friends University Falcons. They finished 2018 with an overall record of 27-24, and even 11-11 in the KCAC, which landed them in 5th place in the conference standings. This season, the Bulldogs were picked to finish 6th in the KCAC pre-season poll, one place behind Friends.

The classic gets underway at 12:00 pm with the Bulldogs squaring off against Texas Wesleyan University out of the Sooner Athletic Conference. At 2:00 pm, they will wrap up day one by taking on Huston-Tillotson University, who plays in the Red River Athletic Conference. On day two, the Bulldogs are scheduled to have an early start, playing William Woods from Missouri, in the 8:00 game. With temperatures forecasted to be right around the freezing mark Saturday morning in Fort Worth, Saturday's first game has a high likelihood of being postponed or cancelled.

If they don't play the 8:00 game on Saturday morning, their next game on the docket is scheduled for 12:00 pm against Central Baptist College out of the American Midwest Conference. They will wrap up the classic at 4:00 pm taking on another Sooner team, Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
