Bulldogs Take Two in Benedictine Triangular

Atchison, Kan. - It was a banner day for the McPherson College volleyball team at Nolan Gymnasium in Atchison, Kansas, as the Bulldogs went 2-0, in a triangular hosted by Benedictine College, against stiff competition to bring their record to 7-6.

The first game of the day was against the host Benedictine College Ravens. The Bulldogs got off to a fast start and never relented; winning the match in four sets 25-23, 25-21, 18-25, and 25-16. The Mac ladies were strong in service, but even stronger in kills racking up 53 total to Benedictine's 47. Sydney Burton's (Jr. Stillwell, Kan.) performance was particularly remarkable as she tallied 16 kills on her own and ended with a kill percentage of .412. Jamie Siess (Sr. Topeka, Kan.) also had a strong match with 5 service aces and 22 digs.

The second match of the day was an absolute show of dominance by the Bulldogs, as they dispatched the Grand View University Vikings, ranked #7 in the NAIA preseason top 25 poll, in three sets; 25-22, 25-20, 25-23. The story in this one was the finishing of Alicia Hall as she spiked down 10 kills, for a percentage of .389. The Bulldogs overall actually had less kills overall than the Vikings but had 9 fewer errors. Nearly flawless serving carried the day for the Bulldogs as they only recorded two serving errors.
