McPherson, Kan. - The McPherson women broke their five-game losing streak with a nail-biter 70-69 win over the Friends Falcons Monday night. The win improved the Bulldogs to 10-11 on the season and 6-9 in KCAC play.

The Bulldogs started the game slowly and couldn't get much of an offensive push in the first quarter. The Falcons had their way offensively for much of the first quarter and after one, led 25-18. Brittany Roberts (Jr. Mansfield, Texas) was able to ignite the 'Dogs in the second quarter. The Bulldogs put up 19 in the frame and shut the Falcons' offense down; they only scored 11. The score at halftime was 37-35 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The player of the second half for the Bulldogs would have to be Brittney Jarvis (Jr. Imperial, Calif.). Jarvis scored all 12 of her points in the second half and also collected 6 steals. She was a driving force in holding the Falcons to 11 points in the third quarter. But the Falcons would not go away quietly. They exploded in the fourth, hitting five three-pointers. Thankfully, the Bulldog lead held.

Coach Nichols said after the game, "Great team win! 3 in double figures and 2 with 9 points. Thought we did a good job adjusting our game plan tonight, we went zone and it slowed Friends down. Brittany had a fantastic game was just a few assists shy of a triple-double." Coach Nichols continued, "Dani and KB came to life offensively. Solid game by Maison. Britney Jarvis was huge on both ends. Stars don't tell the whole story because Victoria Ates had a big effect on the final score. We needed that one bad."

The Bulldogs play again this Thursday night at 6 at Southwestern.
