McPherson, Kan. – Tonight, the McPherson College men's soccer team made the short trip across town to play crosstown rival Central Christian College. The game was a late addition but it worked out well because the Bulldogs had a week off and needed to get a match in before hosting their final KCAC game of the fall next week against Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Each team scored a lone goal, the Bulldogs in the first half, and the Tigers in the second. After two ten minute overtime sessions, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The Bulldog goal came in the 27th minute of the game when Jorge Abdiel Ramos Hernandez (So. Jalisco, Mexico) played a ball across the six yard box to Marcus Fernandes (Sr. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Fernandes hit a beautiful side volley that the Tiger keeper had zero chance of stopping.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, the Tigers found their way into the scoring column. It came on a counter attack after a Bulldog corner kick on the other end of the field. For the last 30 minutes of regulation and the 20 minutes of overtime each team had a couple of looks, but couldn't come away with another goal.

"While we weren't able to find a game winner tonight there were some positives for us in possession against a formidable opponent," said Bulldog head coach Doug Quint. He went on to add, "What a fantastic side volley Marcao scored on the service from Jorge. That will be a memorable moment for him that he/we will never forget." Quint wrapped up his comments by adding, "The good thing is we remain unbeaten over our last 9 games headed into a real tough match with Oklahoma Wesleyan University Saturday."

The draw puts the Bulldogs at 6-1-3 overall on the season. They will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next Saturday at Paul Family Field when Oklahoma Wesleyan, the KCAC's top team, comes to town. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
