Salina, Kan. - The McPherson men's basketball team lost to the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes 74-67 Saturday night. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 19-9 on the season and 14-8 in the KCAC.
The Bulldogs played one great half in this game. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to pull off a win. The first half was defined by a fitful offensive effort. The 'Dogs could only manage 27 points in the first half, one of their lowest totals of the year. They shot 33% from the field and generally looked lifeless. Lual Magot (Sr. Tucson, Ariz.) looked dominant at times; he finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. He did most of his damage at the line, where he was 10 of 12. The Bulldogs only shot 3 of 14 in the first half, usually the bellwether of the Bulldogs offense.
The second half was a return to form for the Bulldogs. They scored 40 points in the period and shot an improved 38% from the field. Delvon Hightower (Sr. Bakersfield, Calif.) got on track in the second half and made some plays. He would finish with 14 points and a pair of rebounds. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Coyotes were just sharper. They shot 44% in the second half and scored 38 points.
