Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Shut Out at York

York, Neb. – The McPherson College women's soccer team fell to 1-3 on the season, and dropped their third straight game on Friday, falling to the York College Panthers 3-0.

The Bulldogs were out of sync on offense, coming up with seven shots on goal, but unable to place any shots past the Panther net minder. On defense they seemed lethargic and demonstrated a lack of focus. All three goals came off of defensive miscues, and York capitalized on all of the Bulldogs' mistakes.

The Bulldogs and Panthers played even through 13 minutes of action. In the 14th minute, the Panthers scored their first goal, collecting the ball in the Bulldogs' defensive third and scoring on a counter attack. The Bulldogs played tough for the remainder of the half, but just five minutes into the second frame, the Panthers found pay dirt again. Down 2-0, the Bulldogs gave up a third goal to the Panthers in the 72nd minute. The defense was unable to clear a ball out of the 18 yard box and the ball found the foot of a Panther attacker who made the shot count.

Christie Silber (Sr. Simi Valley, Calif.) played 90 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs. She faced 11 shots on goal from the Panthers, stopping eight of them.

Coach Olson commented on the match saying, "I was not pleased at all by our effort today. We have to learn from this experience and get better. Holding each other accountable is the first step in turning this season around. The team had great open dialog following the game today and if we take the appropriate steps going forward we will turn this season around. We look forward to playing Avila next weekend for homecoming."

As Coach Olson eluded to, the Bulldogs will play the Avila Eagles next Saturday as part of homecoming. Kick-off is slated for 11:00 am.
