Bulldogs Come From Behind Twice to Beat KWU

McPherson, Kan. – On Saturday, the McPherson College basketball team hosted the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes at the Sport Center. After both junior varsity teams picked up wins in the first two games, the women's varsity team took the floor, and kept things going in a positive direction.

The Bulldog women came from behind in both halves to defeat the Coyotes 73-69. The Coyotes led the Bulldogs by 10 in the second quarter, before they rallied to take a 1 point lead, 33-32 into the halftime intermission.

In the second half, the Bulldogs fell down by 8 with only four minutes left in the game, but again they rallied, this time finishing the game on a 12-0 run to win by four.

Key Statistic

The Bulldogs forced the Coyotes into 22 turnovers, and turned those miscues into 29 points.

By the Numbers

The Bulldogs shot 41% from the floor, but were only 25% from beyond the three point arc.

On the glass, the Bulldogs won the battle of the boards 37 to 36 but had 15 offensive rebounds that they turned into 18 points.

The majority of the Bulldogs' points came inside the paint where they outscored their opponents 56 to 46.

The Bulldogs did a fantastic job taking care of the ball, committing just 10 turnovers and assisting on 16 of their 28 made baskets.

 Next Up

 Tonight's win was their second in a row, and puts them at 10-6 overall, and 7-6 in the KCAC. They will get Tabor College in back to back games next week, hosting the Bluejays on Monday night at 7:00 at the Sport Center, then turning around and heading to Hillsboro for another round on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
